Columns and pilasters give a facade grandeur, rhythm, and a sense of permanence — and in cast stone they deliver that classical presence at a practical cost. From Corinthian capitals to simple square pilasters, cast stone and precast concrete reproduce the full vocabulary of classical architecture.
Columns vs. pilasters
A column is a free-standing round or polygonal vertical element; a pilaster is a flattened column that projects slightly from a wall as decoration. Both are built from the same components — base, shaft, and capital.
The classical orders
- Doric: simple, sturdy, minimal capital
- Ionic: scroll-like volutes at the capital
- Corinthian: ornate acanthus-leaf capital
- Tuscan & Composite: variations for different looks
Shafts can be smooth or fluted, and every element is cast from custom molds to the proportions your design calls for.
Structural or decorative
Precast columns can be engineered and reinforced to carry load — backed by stamped engineering calculations — or they can serve as decorative cladding over a structural core. We help you specify the right approach.
Matching and finish
Columns and pilasters are color-matched to the facade, whether that is limestone, brownstone, or a contemporary tone, so they integrate with the rest of the cast stone program.
